sculptor wanna be geek needs some help
as I have posted earlier, I am working on a project that involves light and sound. I will using dc power to power a small slot car, which I will be modifying to make slightly larger. There will be over head lights and when the lights are on, the small car will play music, when the lights are off, the music will stop and the cars headlights will turn on. Neither will both be on at the same time but one feature will always be on. The lights I am using are two small Maglite light bulbs, the smallest maglite you can buy that runs on one AAA battery. I will be powering all the internal components of the car through two conductor tape that the car will follow. Because the only power source i will/can have will come through the tape, it must power the small motor (1.5 volts dc) and also the light sensor, which will determine if the headlights or the music module plays. I imagine I will have to run more than 1.5 volts through the tape and put a resistor between the tape and the motor...correct? here are two links at parts I am looking at.
sound module http://www.electrokits.com/electronic-kits/audio-sound/22.htm
sensor module http://www.electrokits.com/electronic-kits/lights-light-control/54.htm
however I think these kits are expensive for what they are and would like to learn how to build on my own. Can anyone suggest parts list, ideas, books, schematics, technical notes, whatever you think would help. what should i be looking for when matching up parts? thanks for everything. if anyone has any computer questions i can help with those, just so I dont seem like a mooch all the time. thanks, mark
