How to make servo arm (the 4point piece that attaches to the servo) longer

Hello, I will be purchasing another "futaba standard servo" ( http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=900-00005·"

And for this servo, I will need to cut off 3 of the short legs off the 4 plastic legs of the servo thingie (Is it just called an arm?)
And then extend the length probably 3x... (3.5 inches from axis to end.. 4.0 MAX)·Does anyone have any advice? Maybe where I could just buy an extended one?

thanks! Lee

you can buy those here: www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX0860&P=7 and yes, they will work with futaba servos.

There are also non adjustable ones:
    www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFVK4&P=7
    www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFVK5&P=7
    www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFVK9&P=7

and they come in different colors. just go to towerhobbies.com and search for "servo" to see them all. You dont really have to buy them online, because most hobby shops have these.

    hope that helped ;)

What you are looking for is a "servo arm extension".

    They make some: http://www.nelsonhobby.com/cnc.html
They also make custom at no extra charge!
I bet you could make an extension with an old piece of PCB or robust material.

How about using a "popsicle" stick cut to the appropriate length. Then you can drill 2 holes that will secure the popsicle stick to the 2 origional arms, and you can cut off the unused 2 other arms. Of course you will have to drill a hole at the far end of the popsicle stick to hook whatever gizmo you are trying to "move". If not a popsicle stick, any other piece of plastic like an old toothbrush, or piece of metal, etc.

Getting kind of 'uppity' with all that fancy hole drilling, Just use a couple of Zip ties and you won't even need a drill motor...:)

    Welcome to the forums RogerLouie.
