DS2760 Thermocouple: high temperature limit

Hello!

I purchased a couple of your thermocouple kits (product DS2760). I want to measure some very high temperatures in my BBQ and need to know what the insulation material is on the supplied thermocouples. I may need to purchase a more suitable thermocouple (e.g. fiberglass or ceramic insulation) for my application. If so what is the guage size of the thermocouple wire? I would like to be able to plug the wire directly into the DS2760 module.

Thank you!

-Ron

What I have found from looking around is that the insulation on the thermocouples is likely teflon. If so, that has a temperature rating of 500 degrees F. For higher temperatures, they make ceramic fiber insulated thermocouples (available from Omega.com).

Also, it looks like the DS2760 accepts 24 gauge thermocouple wire. I have some ordered. I'll post more on my project when my wire comes in!
