CM8880 and the Basic Stamp

I see on Parallax's website that you can interface a CM8880 with the
Basic Stamp. Has anyone tried this before? If so, how has it
worked out. Also, it has a 3.56Mhz crystal does anyone know where I
can get them at?

Thanks,

Chris

    Chris,
Based on what I've seen on the parallax web site the cm8880 app kit is no
    longer available as that part
has been discontinued. I posted a while back asking for an alternative but
have not seen a response. I did some
searching and found that cm8870 looks like it should work but I have not
tried it yet. That part is available from
B.G. Micro. As an alternative the tdk 75t204 also looks like a good
substitute. The crystal should be available
    from Jameco.

I can't find a 3.56 Mhz crystal anywhere. Does anyone know if the
    8880 will work on a 3.58?

I'm guessing that 3.56 is a typo - the data sheets I have all specify a
    3.58 MHz crystal.

Most likely it should be 3.579545 Mhz. and is rounded off to 3.58MHz.
This a standard TV colorburst crystal.
