"No Basic Stamps found" error

Hello all.

I am a novice to the stamp module.

I am trying to program a BS2.

I have setup the serial connector found on the bs2 datasheet. When I
connect it and power up the module with about 9.1 vdc, I get com1
verification with loopback-yes and echo-yes.

I am running 2.1 beta 1 software.

When I run the program, the following error appears and the program
halts: "No BASIC Stamps found"

I have verified pin connections 1-4 on the stamp and they are set
correctly.

I also noticed I am not allowed to debug any pins...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you...

I too am having the exact same problem with my BS2. I just
contacted Parallax and they went through several tests with me.
Nothing seemed to fix the problem so they stated that I probably have
a bad stamp and requested that I send it back to them for testing. In
the event that they find the stamp to be bad they said they would
send me another one free of charge. Sorry I don't have any solutions
for you to the problem. If you figure something out I would be very
    happy to hear about it.

    1. You may need to set your "Serial Port Fifo" setting to zero, or
disabled. Some Toshiba Laptops definitely have this problem.

    2. You also need pin 6 and 7, as they connect to a looped back
connection on the board so the IDE can detect a connected
cable. If you got 'loopback OK', then you already have this.

Coming into this thread very late so excuse this post if it is off base.

Have you monitored the volatage supply to the stamp when you try to program?
When I say voltage to the stamp......literally on the stamp, not coming out
of your power supply, not just before the stamp, but ON the stamp.

A scope is best. Confirm the voltage does not drop when you go to program.

    Cas,

Are you using a Toshiba laptop? They need to have the FIFO buffers turned of
    in the hardware manager.

I had this problem before, there was a bad connection in the Db9 connector at
    the PC case.
    Try to reconnect it again.
