Hi,

Quite OFF TOPIC.

I am currently in the middle of my electronics design.

Does anybody here knows where to buy second hand oscilloscopes in
Canada?

Thanks you.

EBAY Just bought a 100mhz HP scope for a hundred bucks...

If not, then do a google/yahoo on surplus electronci test
equipment... There are several in Canada...

How about a first hand Opto-Scope ? Parallax offers it and I have
not heard any bad things about them.

Other than that, e-bay or post to all the electronics groups you can
find until you find someone ?

    Watch the local newpapers ?

    Try this one:

    http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28119

Brand new at probably less than a used scope.

I am in Canada and bought one a couple of weeks ago on ebay from the
USA. There were better deals there than trying to buy one locally
through used electronics places. However, if you buy locally then you
might get dealer support, etc. if you have problems. Pick your parameters.

Also, to plug Parallax, their Optascope is pretty nicely priced for a
    new PC-based scope.

Fabulous place. Lucky enough to live close enough to visit. I try to go
several times a year. Far, far more gear than is shown on the web page.
Most of my gear comes from there.

Where are you? If in the Toronto area try Toronto Surplus
    (http://www.torontosurplus.com/). Sayal (http://www.sayal.com/index.asp) and
Active Surplus (http://www.activesurplus.com/) sometimes has reasonable
stuff. Also A-1 Electronic Parts, 718 Kipling Avenue.

No, but I have the obvious advantage of seeing and testing what I want
right there. However I trust them enough that they will tell you the
true condition of the gear they have. While they do have lots of surplus
gear, they also get much of their test equipment from labs and industry
that are upgrading to more modern equipment, so what they are getting is
not really junque gear, but just gear being swapped out for more modern
gear. I have no affiliation with them, just a very satisfied customer.
Actually, you can just send them an e-mail and tell them what you want
as they have far more in inventory than is listed on there web sites. It
takes them quite a while to catalog and list it. Last I knew it was
still just a father and son team, no other employees. The two of them do
everything from running around purchasing stuff, to inventory, to
    shipping etc.

They have some excellent multi channel logic analyzers where you can
hook up probes to all the inputs/outputs of your stamp and see exactly
    what is happening.

Prices will look high, remember that is Canadian dollars, so use the
currency converter so you don't go into sticker shock.

I am Canadian....I've got sticker shock calusses now!! haha

    I'm lucky I work in an electronic lab...well, I'm a radar tech....we've
upgraded to some nice LCD/Phospher scopes, but I've been finding old analog
scopes in corners. Big brutish stuff....but it works! I just need a
    bigger bench! haha

What the heck is an analog scope?????

    Just kidding,

    =======================

That brutish, analog scope will likely still be working long after
those nice lcd/phosphor scopes have been trashed due to the lack of
replacement LSI chips... I have long noted the trend of
    manufacturers to design one-custom-chip-that-does-everything, buy
them from a chip foundry and when the production run is finished so
    is the supply of chips...

    Hello from Gregg C Levine
Perhaps the generation before the models such as the Tek 2213, that I
have here? According to Tek, the model that I have is a digital scope,
the ones that still displayed dual traces, but were not digital in
design, were actually, um, analog. The 600 series, and the 700 series
for example. Perhaps the poster could refine that comment?

Besides that scope I have here is about twenty years of age, its still
    current.
