Basic Stamp, Basic Project

I'm currently in a micro-contol class and I will be assigned a
project with the basic stamp.
The assignment is open ended and can be as complex or simple as I
want, for ease of class I'm looking to do something simple.
I.E. a counter/ indicator of some kind or a sensor / alarm

Anyone have any idea's for something simple yet fun.
I'm not looking for a already completed project just some idea's.

With the mass amounts of email I get from this group I'm sure
somebody out there can help fill my creative tank. (It's empty right
now :)

what about the color seperation of M&M's ? is that too close to a
    kit ?

Jellybean seperation could use a light detector and stepper/servo....

I've done a lot of simple projects for my Stamp Project of the Month column
(www.awce.com/som.htm). A few of my favorites (not all of which have been
    done -- yet):

Electronic dice: LEDs for the pips, a button to roll, and a piezo speaker to
make a noise as rolling goes on.

Simon game. 4 LEDs, 4 switches, and a speaker. Simon beeps and lights an LED
(each LED has a different tone). You have to press the same button. Then it
does 2 LEDs and you follow, then 3, 4, etc.

Door light detector: Two doorways have two photocells (each) that detect
people walking in and out. You can determine direction by which photocell
turns on first. Then when someone enters the room, you turn the lights on.
When more people enter, you increase a count. When everyone leaves (count is
0, you turn the light off). Include an override switch.

Car alarm: Enter the right sequence on 4 push buttons to disarm the alarm.
In my version, a large RC is used to give a 4 second time out with little
    trouble with the Stamp.

    Just a few random ideas.
