software lowpass filter

hello,

i m new to the group and i would appreciate it very much if somebody
could help me with my problem:

how can i implement a software lowpass filter for a stream of
integers ?
i get a stream of numbers from an adxl202 accelerometer which i use
to measure change of angle. but i would like to get rid if "spikes"
introduced through vibrations.
i have a basicstamp 2.
