Lcd backlight Voltage

I got one off ebay it is military surplus the backlight is AC
voltage,anybody know what voltage these usally run at 12,24 ?

    Usually 100V at 100hz, if memory serves.

    Actually, I think it's 100V @ 400hz, but it would help to know the
    exact model before etching that in stone! =)

    Thanks found it on this search,your spec will also work 50-100v,400-
    1000hz.
    that helped my search on the net thanks

    100V at 100Hz, this is true.
    115V at 60 Hz (wall-socket) will light it
    dimly -- BUT this is of course very dangerous.
    (wall-socket voltage will also DESTROY any
    LED-based back-light, so make sure you are
    correct)

    Before that scares you, this requires VERY
    low current (~1mA?) at that voltage.

    They do make special purpose 'switcher' chips,
    which take in 5 volts and output the correct
    LCD Backlight voltage. This is the way to go.
