we have a belden usb to serial convertor, winxp and a bs2x stamp that
we are trying to program, when we hit ID we get yes for loopback and
echo but we do not get a version or id info. when we try to run a
program we get the fault "no basic stamp found"
any ideas what the problem might be?
we have tried the program on other winxp and win98 systems with no
problems.

other WinXP and Win98 systems WITH the 'belden'
or without it.
Personally, I have had bad luck with the Belden
USB adapter. Parallax used to sell the BAFO unit,
and recently started selling the FTDI unit because
it has better WinXP support.
I've always liked the KeySpan 19W units.
Whatever you purchase for a USB to RS232 converter,
insure you DO NOT get the 'PDA' version -- the
BS2 uses more handshaking signals than the PDA
versions do. NO USB PDA 232 adapter is going to
work with the BS2.
