Basic Stamp Editor for other PIC''s?

The BASIC Stamp editor/compiler is designed only for BASIC Stamp
microcontrollers. While you can certainly edit any text with it, the
program will not ever be capable of programming other (non-Parallax)
devices.
There are compilers available that use PBASIC-type language statements,
but they are not 100% compatible with genuine PBASIC code, so there may
be times when you have a program that runs perfectly on the BASIC Stamp
that will require modification before running as a compiled program on a
PIC or other micro.

Subject: [basicstamps] Basic Stamp Editor for other PIC's?
Hi all,
I wanted to know it there is a way to use the Basic Stamp Editor for
other PIC's. I have 2 Basic Stamp II's and are really pleased with
them. The only reason that I want to know this information is to
further my knowledge of the Editors capabilities, I am also trying to
become familiar with PIC's and how to program them. I have not
programmed a PIC before and wanted to know my options when the time
comes. I know there are Assembly programmers but I really like BASIC
programming I find it much easier read and understand.
Any suggestion / comments are welcome
Thanks,
