Ultralink Model 321BS,

To anyone who can help,
I was looking for a distributor for this module made by
UltraLink. At one time in the past, Parallax was a distributor, but
they discontinued this product a couple of years ago. I am also
looking to see if anyone has one they might be wanting to sell. I
know that I need to look on eBay, because everything is there. =:)
When Parallax was carrying the 321BS, I believe they were selling it
for around $70US. I am looking to have a way to sync to the NIST
atomic clock in Colorado and this is a good instrument to do this.
Any help would help. You can post to this group, but I do not always
check this group everyday. You can also respond to btgs2000@j....
Thanks,
Bill, KC9CFO

Bill, for a couple of dollars more you can get a GPS module that will
output a RS-232 stream with an accurate clock. If you get the
antenna outside, you won't have to worry about wwv dropping out
during the day and stuff like that. I believe some of the folks on
this list were experimenting with the Etek GPS and I though they said
they got them for less than $100.

Another option for free is the Internet Time Service from NIST (the
same people that give you WWV). See http://boulder.nist.gov/timefreq/
for more info. I use the Daytime Protocol from NIST. One of their
servers is at http://192.43.244.18:13 (note :13 at end) which
returns a one line string with the current time.

Bill,

John is quite right. I have one of the Ultra Link modules, and it is pretty
good. However, a couple of times my clock has been almost a second off,
because of the lack of a signal to WWVB for a couple of days during bad
weather. And since the only new ones they offer are close to $200...

I got an Oncore II and an antenna from ebay for $75. While it has a lot of
features you don't need, it was cheap. I haven't used it all that much, but
I plan to install it in my 1960 Valiant and use Nixie tubes for the display.
It is quite easy to get the data you want from the GPS.
