Disconnect power and remove the BASIC Stamp module from the socket.
Inspect the pins; you may have bent one of the programming connection
pins. If so, carefully straighten the pin(s) and put back into the
socket making sure that all pins are seated.

Subject: [basicstamps] Can't Identify Stamp
Just received my first Basic Stamp & Board of Education. The
Identify menu shows Loop Back = Yes Echo = Yes. It does not
identify the chip.
Running Windows XP on a desktop PC (e-machine).
Power LED is on.
Tried a 9v battery as well as an ac adapter - doesn't work. Tried a
different computer (win2k) - doesn't work. Tried a different serial
cable - doesn't work. Removed chip - reseated it - doesn't work. Removed
chip again - reseated it - doesn-t work. Tried changing FIFO setting on
serial port - doesn't work.
I give up. Guess it's DOA?
Any ideas?
