Basicstamps: DC Motor Overload
Archiver

I am in the process of building a Sumobot around a BS2
stamp, using DC Motors. I have most of the layout
planned and components selected. My question is in the
event of a sustained push/entanglement with the other
sumobot should I have some kind of protection for the
motors? I think I am right that it is possible to
overload/burnout a DC motor in this situation. I have
looked through my reference material an online at
other sumobots and can find no mention of any such
device/circuit being used.
If I do/should build this into my robot should it be
in hardware form as a circuit or in the programming.
Any advise or insight would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks
