Jonathan, the pulsoutout period for a BS2p24 is .75us. A duration of 100
would give you about 75us, so 80 is pretty close.

While playing with the pulsout command on the 2p24, I noticed I wasn't
getting the results I expected. I hooked it up to the Optascope, and a
pulsout of 100 gives me a pulse between 80 and 81 uS. By the book at 1.18uS
per count, shouldn't it give a result of 118uS? A length of 80 indicates it
is running like a 2sx, at .8uS per count. Any ideas what is up with this?
Thanks,
Jonathan
www.madlabs.info
The PULSIN is .75uS on a 2p. But page 243 of my manual says that the PULSOUT
is 1.18. I have tried it between two different 2p's, an old one and a new
one, and they both give the same results. PULSIN measures out to spec.
Hmmm,
Jonathan

why don't you look at the help file?
It clearly states that the Pulsout AND Pulsin periods are:
1.88µS for the BS2Pe
0.75µS for the BS2P

You are correct, the help file is more current. I rarely run into any errors
in the printed version, but I guess it's getting a little old. It may be my
equipment, but on both my Optascope and Tek 465M I get .8uS, in samples
ranging from a count of 10 to 1000. Anyone else actually measured the
pulsout of a 2p24?

Sid -
Just for the record, my HELP file indicates the same as what ECO found:
2SX 2p 2pe
Pulsout .8 us .75 us 1.88 us
Pulsin .8 us ,75 us 1,88 us
My HELP file is 512,024 bytes in length and has a date of Nov. 26, 2003 since there is little other way to identify it.

It appears that there is a slight timing difference in the first
PULSOUT loop. I checked it with my Tek 'scope and an Extech
calibrator.
PULSOUT 0,1 ' I get a 0.75 microsecond pulse
PULSOUT 0,2 ' I get a 1.55 microsecond pulse (0.75+0.8)
PULSOUT 0,3 ' 2.35 microsecond (1.55 + 0.8)
PULSOUT 0,5000 ' 4 milliseconds (0.8 * 5000 uS = 4000 microseconds)
That makes it mainly 0.8 microsecond per count, which is the same as
you observed. And that means the help fine is incorrect, except for
PULSOUT 0,1. The BS2p has the same PULSOUT timing as the BS2sx. I
did not check a BS2sx to see if it might have the same issue with the
shortest pulse.
For the BS2pe, the timings are 2.5 times longer than the BS2p, as
expected due to the 8mhz vs 20mhz clock.
PULSOUT 0,1 ' I get a 1.88 microsecond pulse (+/- 0.03)
PULSOUT 0,2 ' I get a 3.88 microsecond pulse (1.88 + 2.0)
PULSOUT 0,3 ' 5.88 microsecond (3.88 + 2.0)
PULSOUT 0,5000 ' 10 milliseconds (2.0 * 5000 = 10000 microseconds)
So, that makes it the same as the BS2 and BS2e at 2 microseconds per
count, (except for the shortest pulse which is 1.88 microseconds).
The help file for the BS2pe says 1.88 microseconds, but it seems to
me it should say 2 microseconds, for most purposes.

Thanks for checking that out. I wondered if it was just me. I couldn't
measure a single pulse accuratly, so I did multiples of ten. I tried it
first thing in the AM, with the room cold, then later in the afternoon when
it had warmed up, and it came out the same. I had thought maybe it was
temperature related.
Nice to know someone with much better equipment than I came up with the same
results. Gives me more confidence in my cheap setup!
