basicstamps - Which Kit?

I am a total novice when it comes to BASIC Stamps and
PBASIC, I am about to purchase a BASIC Stamp kit from
Parallax, but would welcome advice from you more
experienced folk.
My situation is, my interest in is robotics I have
been building simple robots using basic circuits, line
following, light seeking etc. But I would like to
start using a microprocessor in their construction to
add more control and functionality.

My initial choice had been the BASIC Stamp 2
Educational Starter Kit, - with its simple projects
and good intro to BS2. But I am now thinking maybe I
should go with the Boe-Bot Full Kit as it is more in
keeping with my interest more applicable programing
etc.

My concern is that maybe I am missing the point, is it
better to learn about the BS2 project style as in the
Educational Kit, or would the applied programming of
the Boe-Bot kit be a better intro. Any Help/insight
would be very much appreciated.

Thanks Nigel Emms

I would suggest you go with the BOE Full Kit. That comes with What's a
Microcontroller, and will give you a very good entry into the field of
micro-processors. All the parts, schematics, programs - everything you need -
    plus
the incomparable support you get from Parallax. This will be the best
    investment you ever made.

If you can swing the dollars, the BOE-Bot kit
contains a full BOE kit, as well as the extra
pieces needed to make a 'Bot' with the BOE kit
    on top of it.

I'm more of an incrementalist myself, but sometimes
that's more expensive in the long run. I did wait
until the BOE-Bot kit was on sale -- but now I wish
I had bought the whole thing in the first place.
It's nice to have a platform that DOES something
    when you're done.

    Hold on Sid!

The BOE Full Kit (#28102) does NOT include What's a Microcontroller.
This is the BOE Full Kit product page -
    http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28102

The BS2 Educational Starter Kit (#27207) includes the WAM parts and text
AND the Board of Education carrier board and BASIC Stamp 2 module,
serial cable. For complete details -
    http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=27207

If you already have a ton of parts and components in your workshop, then
you may be able to get away with the BOE Full Kit. If you're starting
    from scratch, I'd select #27207.

    Good luck,
