    Mike,

The Board of Education Full Kit is the platform required to complete the
What's a Microcontroller experiments. The BOE Full Kit includes the
BASIC Stamp microcontroller and Board of Education carrier board. The
WAM kit is a collection of components, switches, and a servo motor.

Detailed descriptions and photos of each are at these links -

    Mike,
I don't think that is true. I just finished the WAM using a homework
    board.

Ok, I see where you're coming from now.

The Radio Shack kit contains the following:
    WAM parts
    WAM text
HomeWork Board project platform (not the BOE/BS2 module)
    Serial Cable
    Cd-rom

The HomeWork Board has a BASIC Stamp 2 microcontroller built onto the
board whereas the Board of Education Full Kit contains a BS2 24-pin
    module.

    Wesley,

I stated that the BOE Full Kit was required for WAM (which is true).
I should have mentioned that the HomeWork Board may also be used to
    complete the WAM projects.

The WAM kit that Radio Shack sells (currently out of stock) contains
the Homework Board. The Homework board has a BS2 soldered to the
board. The Homework board acts the same as the BOE with a BS2, but it
only runs on battery power and contains a +5V regulator that puts out
less power than the BOE. More info here

Right, the WAM kit has a single-board, with
a BS2 surface mounted onto it. The BOE has
a board with a BS2 chip sitting in a socket
in the board. That's why the BOE is usually
more expensive. It's also more versatile,
since you can plug a Javelin module into it,
or mount it on a BOE-Bot.

But the WAM module is quite capable all by
itself, if you want a lower cost of beginning.
