New to stamps, rc interface

I just picked up a stamp 2 kit with the board of education and the
manual, I find things to be a bit daunting at the moment. I figure
I'll just have to start small and work up to what my intended purpose
will be. I plan to take 2 inputs from a radio control reciever signal
with 1 to 2 ms pulses and convert them to two output pwm voltages
between 0-5volts dc to control some wheelchair motors and controllers
I have in a 1/6th scale paintball tank. Am I in over my head, will the
stamp 2 do what I need it to. Most importantly is there a copy of the
software out there that will do this for me and get my tank running
while I experiment with the many other uses of stamps untill I get the
hang of things and then modify the software to my needs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
