XPorting the stamp

Don't know what kind of plastic it is - Check out msiusa.com for
whatever details they might give. Yes though, its just a little
rectangle of plastic with two crimped on legs. Less than an inch
long.

As for the XPort, I dont really have any notes of any kind. It was a
breeze... First thing I used was the dev board - pre-built, hook up
a null-modem cable and Bob's your uncle. Used the Appinstaller to
configure IP address and baud rate, etc, wrote a crappy little Java
applet (stole most of the code from the supplied Thermostat applet)
that basically just told me what the stamp was sending.

As far as the stamp is concerned, its simply talking to something
over a serial cable. No special codes needed or anything. Just use
Debug statements if you want ;)

For a stand-alone XPort, just power it with 3.3V, hook up the Stamp
RX to the XPort TX and visa versa through 10k resistors and connect
a 3.3v zener between the resistor and Xport to ground on the data
lines.

Thats as far as I've progressed with it. Been working on several
little dataloggers for work - and now the vibration monitor... The
XPort is for a much larger project which I probably wont have
finished for a loong time yet.
