Cable questions (Solved I think?!?)

Hello from Gregg C Levine
I am extending a blanket thank you, to all of you, who offered me
advice, on setting up a cable, for a BS1, working with the Windows
editor.
The first cable I chose, was basically a ribbon cable wearing DB25s at
both ends, I attached it to the stamp, and the computer, using the
proper port adapters. It worked with out the complaints I predicted.

And now a new problem with that cable idea. When I click the ID button
on the toolbar, it does ID the stamp. It also tells me, that there's
no echo or loopback. Are those two important to the BS1? Also, it
worked the first couple of times, when I composed yesterday's note, in
fact. Now the debug window seems to think its supposed to ignore me,
even though the editor seems do everything expected.
Can stamps get confused the way Windows is supposed to do, every so
often?
Incidentally to those of you at Parallax who decided to bring the
Windows editor to the Stamp1, with that adapter, you've got my deepest
congratulations.

it will identify itself. Note that DEBUG with the BS1 is very different than
with the BS2. The BS1 DEBUG command sends nearly 100 bytes at 4800 buad, so it
is noticable slower than on the BS2 which just sends what you tell it to.
