Robot movement

Hello everyone,

I'm new with BASIC Stamp. I have a BS2 SumoBot connected to my pc via
the serial port. I'm not sure where to start and how to experiment
with the robot movements.

After testing the robot, I would like to know how to program it so
that it will move forward (lets say 1 feet) as well as turn left or
right. Can I enter the length of the distance? For instance, move
forward (1 feet) then turn left then proceed (2 feet) then stop. I
think the movement is related to the motors am I correct? So, is it
suitable to use distance? I can't get any idea how to program it.
Where can I get the source code for movements for different value of
distance? Hope that someone can help me here.

Thanx in advance.

The SumoBot manual covers this material ... I know because I wrote it
and am updating it at the moment.

The above link should take you to the Parallax web site and the 340 pages of
documentation BOE bot (similar in design to the SumoBot) . It sounds like you
are at the very beginning, so I'll give you the really short version.First read
through the above documentatation. You don't have to read it cover to cover,
just get an idea of how the motors are driven. Download and install the Stamp
Editor. Then run the Stamp editor software and write or cut and paste a program
into the editor. Then download the program into your Sumo Bot. See how it
    responds and experiment from there.

Our web site as a search feature that works pretty well. I entered
"sumobot" into the search box and got a page full of appropriate hits --
    including the one you're after.

Hi. Thanx for the link. I've tried seaching on SumoBot
for Student Guide. I don't have a credit card so i
prefer if i can find a downloadable one. I read in the
    "Robotic With The Boe-Bot"
and it stated that --> After completing this text, you
will be ready for either or both of these more
    advanced robotics texts and kits:

“Advanced Robotics: with the Toddler”, Student Guide,
    Version 1.2, Parallax Inc., 2003

“SumoBot”, Student Guide, Version 1.1, Parallax Inc.,
    2002

So, I tried to search for the SumoBot Student Guide
    but could find it.
