with is a small DC motor that has an offset weight on its shaft to cause
it to vibrate.

I just aquired about 20 old pagers and made a dc motor
controller using the L293D Chip. It's easy and can
control 2 motors both foward and reverse.
Hope this helps.

an off-balance weight, it is nothing more than a dc motor. Put voltage on
it and it will rotate, reverse the connections and it will rotate in the
other direction. For circuitry to control the direction and speed, check
out this web site for examples. http://www.geocities.com/jimforkin2003/
Incidentally, if you want to remove the weight, crush the weight with pliers
across the widest part and, in most cases, it will slip off the shaft
without any damage.

voltage overhead a standard transistor switching circuit is fine,
otherwise I would consider using a mosfet. For controlling the
speed a simple transistor current mirror works well.

anything about voltage or amperage. I guess the voltage is close to the pager
motors. I only need to control vibration strength. Thanks everyone for the help.
