it just dawned on me,,, if i have 10 relays poppin n clickin a few
times a second it woudl get pretty noisy,, any one have an idea on
what an alternitive to use is? at this point,, i know theres 3 110
ac lights , an aray of led's im going to make,, most likely
alternating color,, in paralel for brightness . then there will be
about 6 inputs for a controll panel,
i would like to make an interface with 2 buttons, and possibly a 3
digit led read out,, so i could write a tiny program to allow you
to set the beat perminute of the music acompaning the light show,,
for example if i know my music is at 138 bpm,, and the led display
shows 138 bpm,, and i touch a touch pad controll( one of the 6
buttons on controol panel) the specified lights for that controll
buton come on,, and then blink at the specified bpm,, which would
make them match the mucis as closly as you can,,
in reply to "to paralax rep" answer: midi wont work for the
interface to make a program match the beat,, theres no midi on the
mixer,, im tlaking about turntables and a mixer,, using a seprate
bpm meter on them i think if i can figure this way out ill be
satisfied
if any one wants to lend me a hand,, i use allchat programs, im me
in yahoo or ask me for another sn

out. You might also look at triacs, which are useful for controlling ac
loads from DC control current sources.

If you are worried about the sound (electrical noise and relay contact wear)
that the 110 Volts AC relays will be making you might be able to use SSRs
(solid state relays) they have no moving parts and take a low voltage input
to turn them on, usually 3-32 Volts DC. They are available in many different
voltage and current switching output capacities that would suit your needs.
The SSRs are very durable with the proper heat sink (the heat sink does not
have to be anything fancy)
See this ebay link lots to choose from.
