detecting audio with the stamp and hardware?

Hi group,
Out of curiosity is it possible to use the basic stamp attached to some
pitch receiver device, (a microphone or something) that can be directly into
the stamp to control outputs?
And.....
is there any way the stamp can be used to manipulate the pitch and
frequency of a musical score directly without interfacing it with a
computer?
If so I would love to hear how!! or any other thoughts.
The project I plan on doing needs to control the rate of compressed air in
relation to an audio soundtrack which will hopefully be manipulated by
temperature readings within a room.
