Hello,

Is there a hardware way or code available that allows me to connect the
BS2SX to
I2C devices and or one wire devices?

Scott

Scott,

Good luck with the 1-Wire devices! The only thing I've found is a
file called "Working with 1-Wire", which states that you need to buy a
Surface Mound Device and solder it to a carrier board, a process not
for the feint-of-heart (or less than agile fingers)!

I hope a solution comes forth, as I am faced with the same problem!
The rumor mill has it that Parallax might someday provide something to
help us.

Russ

If someone comes up with a surface mount to DIP converter that doesn't
require soldering (like it is ZIF or locks into place somehow), I'll
BUY BUY BUY. I've run into I2C chips that I can't work with because of
the size, but otherwise would very much want to... like those OSD
(on-screen display) chips for overlaying text over video (This has
also been a problem of mine with non-BASIC stamp projects.)

BTW, does anyone know much about those OSD I2C chips?

PS: That's something Parallax should work with. Who wants a robot with
a wireless video camera and vital parameters overlaid on the video? :)

There are plenty of solderless SMD sockets out there. Ironwood comes to
mind. However they are all big ticket items -- not inexpensive enough for
general use. They are mostly used in one of a kind test fixtures.

That being said, I have found I can handle surface mount pretty well and
there are plenty of cheap solder-style PC boards available now days. In
fact, we've considered making some on the edges of our existing PC boards.
