I was wondering, will there ever be a BS2pe40? I for one would be very
interested in such a product.

    Hi John,

I don't know if Parallax has any plans for a BS2pe40IC module. But I
do buy the BS2pe40 chips from them for my data loggers.
    http://www.emesystems.com/OWL2pepr.htm
My core module uses 12 auxio pins for its ADC, RTC etc, leaving 20
pins (p0 to p16 and x0 to x3) for general application.

    John and Tracy,

We don't have any plans for a 40-pin BS2pe at this time.

We can support customers by offering the PBASIC48W/PE40 interpreter chip
as Tracy indicated below although it isn't a stocked item.
If you're interested in this chip, please contact me directly off list.

Hello all. Is there some trick to programming a BS2PE that I don't know about? I have the newest editor, and select BS2PE from the directive menu. I've tried different BOEs and none of them work for the PE, but they will download to my BS2P, BS2E and BS2. I've had it for a while and just removed it from the anti-static bag, and installed it (I was grounded). All I get is no basic stamp found error. Am I missing something here?

Thank you for all of your time.

suppost to be able to communicate via I2C and so is the LCD. I'm sure
I am doing something wrong any sample code or a place to look for an

wires going between basic stamp and LCD.

    John,

I don't see any reason at all that the BS2pe should not work in that
setup. Have you checked the voltages on the power supply pins, Vdd
    and Vin?

Hi Tracy. Thanks for replying. I just checked. Vin is 6.32v and Vdd is 5.13v. I think this is about right. anything else that could be wrong?

    Thanks, John

VIN at 6.32 Volts? This seems awfully close to
the drop-out voltage of the regulator. It's
possible that any additional output from the
BS2pe would pull enough current to go to
    'brown-out'.

But wait, you're in a BOE, right? That means
the regulator is on the BOE, you aren't using
the regulator on the chip at all, so that
    can't be the problem.

BUT, if it's in a BOE, with a power-supply and
that works with other BS2 modules, it's
VERY likely the BS2pe is 'blown'.

The STAMPW.EXE does have to be a fairly recent version, because the
'pe is the most recent Stamp. You are using the beta currently
available from the Parallax web site, right? The BS2pe is correct
in the socket, and no bent pins?

If it all looks okay, maybe you need to call Parallax tech support.

I don't see how/why it would be 'blown' as it is new. I will contact parallax tech support.
