Jonathan -

For low speed, low voltage, and low amperage, you can try a telephone cord
un-tangler such as those they sell at Radio Shack. Other than that you're
generally talking some serious money.

    Hi All,

I want to attach a slip ring to a stepper motor. I've looked around, but I
don't seem to find the one I need. Anyone have a good source for such an
    item?

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

    Bruce,

No, I need something a little more heavy duty, with 4 contacts.

    Jonathan -

I've been on a multi-year search for that kind of slip-ring arrangement. This
is all I've ever been able to find that was reliable, and more in line with
higher currents and voltages. Be forewarned, these devices contain mercury, if
    that matters to you:

As I remember when I made an inquiry a few years back, a two conductor device
was around $ 40-50 US and a three conductor device was up around $ 75.00 US. The
four conductor device that I wanted was over $ 100.00 US. Sorry, no samples
    <sigh>.

    Bruce,

You have it all wrong! You were supposed to tell me you knew where to get
exactly what I want, and for $1.89 each ;-).

I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything.

As the last resort, make your own.
I just did that for a Propeller Clock I am making.
I use Cupron-Copper for the rings and the brushes.
I can send you a BMP files that shows the one I did.

I picked up a 6 contact slip-ring made by Litton Poly-Scientific for the
same ends on eBay, not quite sure how I'm going to drive it though!

You might want to try grangers
    http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/start.shtml
Last year I repaired a drop light reel that had 3 slip rings with brush
holders. Sounds just like what your looking for, contact there repair parts
department, call them, they have supplied parts for stuff they never sold,
they might be able to hook you up.
