Does anyone know the manufacturer and part number for the pins (or
someting similar)used on the Stamp boards?

I'd like to have some on hand for the day I break em off inserting it.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
3 suggestions to prevent pin damage:

#1, replace the standard socket with a zif (Zero Insertion Force) socket on the
    programming board.

#2, put the stamp in a high quality machined (round pin) socket and plug and
unplug it rather than the stamp.

#3, use "in circuit programming" as shown here

Agree with the suggestions below......besides that however......does anybody
know where to purchase those pins.....I have a need for those pins. Not to
repair a stamp but for general projects.

I know this won't work for everyone, but it's also a
pin-saving suggestion...I have a few BOE boards, plus
the NX-1000 I just picked up for developing code on.
Once I have the hardware where I need it, I use a BS2
OEM module, or my own circuit on the board where a BS2
chip will be a semi-permanent resident (Well,
permanent if everything works okay). This way I never
have to unsocket any of my standard chips.

It must ne a custom part number as I have asked this before and got
    no responce.

I resorted to using single row right angle headers to creat my pins
    on my homebrew stamps.

replace the "AT" with @ for the link to work.

Get an old computer chip that you dont need (EEPROM from your old 486 will
do) and smash it open. you should get quite a few pins.

Samtec sells many different types of headers - you should be able to
    find what you need here

    Hello Jason,

The pins for the BS1 and BS2 are set up to be for internal use only.
Unfortunately, we're not able to provide the supplier information.

But as you've seen by the other responses, list members have an
abundance of information and should point you in the right direction.

    Kerry,

What "we" are specifically looking for are right angle pins that mount to a
PCB exactly like those found on the Basic Stamp. Mouser does not sell those
    pins.

Parallax is not willing to devulge the pin supplier and I cannot understand
why. It is not as if I (we) are going to start making a better Stamp.....for no
other vendor of uP's is able to do so either.

The closest I have found is:
    http://www.zierick.com/connectors/pdf/c_end_taped_pcb_terminals.pdf

but the pins do not come off at a right angle from the PCB mount.

www.mouser.com has all the male and female pins you could want. They will
send you a free catalog as well.

    Hi Jason:

I think what you're looking for is made by Keystone and are called micro
pins. Any pin that's between 0.015" and 0.025" should work. See:
    http://www.keyelco.com/kec/standpro/stdframe.htm
Some are press fit, some solder attach and some swage attach.
These are sold by Mouser and other distys.

These are called Lead Frame pins.

Search http://www.google.com and enter Lead Frame.
You should find plenty of sources.

I would guess it is a manufacturing reason: If you want to buy 10 gazillion
pins on reels set up to automatically get robotically installed on tiny PC
board, you can find many manufacturers.
But to try to handle small amounts of loose pins would most likely be .1 cent
per pin with a $1 per pin handeling charge. Just not practical in small lots.

    Hello All,

I'd like to request that we pause on this thread for the time being.
I'm confirming information on our end and will have a detailed response
    on Monday afternoon.
Alan brings up some valid points about purchasing pins in small lots.

This is a multifaceted topic and all of us at Parallax appreciate your
    patience.

    Hello there,

You have been successful in finding a number of sources for replacement
    pins.

Parallax purchases pins for use in our modules and doesn't stock enough
inventory for individual purchases. Handling and selling individual
pins is not practical to administer since it involves accessing the
reels, altering the pin count, and returning the reels to their
    appropriate place.

Our source is overseas (Batten & Allen, Inc.) so it doesn't make sense
for the majority of our customers to purchase the pins directly and pay
at least $50 in shipping charges. As Bruce Reynolds pointed out, these
are "Lead Frame" pins and available from distributors across the USA.

    Hello All,

I'd like to request that we pause on this thread for the time being. I'm
confirming information on our end and will have a detailed response on
    Monday afternoon.
Alan brings up some valid points about purchasing pins in small lots.

This is a multifaceted topic and all of us at Parallax appreciate your
    patience.

    Sincerely,

I would guess it is a manufacturing reason: If you want to buy 10
    gazillion
pins on reels set up to automatically get robotically installed on tiny
    PC
board, you can find many manufacturers.
But to try to handle small amounts of loose pins would most likely be .1
    cent
per pin with a $1 per pin handeling charge. Just not practical in small
    lots.
