srf04 multiplexing

HI all: I was wondering if anyone has multiplexed srf04 sensors. I know the
srf08 can run on I2C bus, but I cannot afford the extra money for the srf08.
I have seen circuits that create 8 I/O lines from 3 data lines, but the
srf04 uses a pair of lines at once. It seems like a multiplexor that pairs
lines is needed.
I have searched on the internet and not found any information yet.
Very respectfully, your obedient servant.
