Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions on using RF transceivers to
communicate between a Stamp (Javelin preferably) and a PC?

You can check Radiometrix.co.uk, NVLSI.com, RFM.com, Linx.com if you want to
    implement all the protocols.

Or you can check Chipcon.com if you want to use serial IO only. Manchester
    in hardware is done.

    Hello Russ,

I'm using the Parallax A/7 Bluetooth eb500 transceiver to communicate
between a Stamp (Boe-Bot, with a BS2), and my pc. On the pc I have a
Bluetooth wireless USB adapter. The Bluetooth USB adapters are usually
available at stores that sell computers.

I just started using the Bluetooth transceivers. So far, I have the Boe-Bot
running on remote control. Right now I'm working on the Boe-Bot sending the
pc information from the IR sensors. If I get that to work, I'm going to
order a Parallax Devantech SRF04 Ultrasonic Range Finder and see if I can
get the pc to control the Boe-Bot using data from the Range Finder.

    Thanks, Steve!

I looked for the eb600 on the Parallax site and didn't find it. What
is it and where do I buy it?

My application requires that I communicate between my PC in one part
of the house with a system in the basement. I could run a cable, but
that could be a problem for long-term use withoug tearing up the walls!

So, what I actually need to do is communicate with something other
than the Javelin. It is a piece of electrical gear that has an RS232
port which communicates with their own "remote monitor panel".

My ultimate goal is to have the Javelin actually monitor the gear and
in fact to control it. To do this I have to uncover the protocol used
by the gear to communicate with the remote monitor. (The company has
steadfastly refused my requests for the protocol.)

Toward this end I will write a program that watches the RS232 traffic
using two ports on the pc.

    Hello Russ,

    Sounds like an interesting project!

On the Parallax web site the Bluetooth EmbeddedBlue eb500 Tansceiver AppMod
    is:

    http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=30068

(or, under PRODUCTS, choose Accessories, and then Communications and RF)

    Russ,
A company called Wireless Cables Inc sells a bluetooth ready wireless RS232
    solution called AirCable for $129.00.
    http://www.aircable.net/
Serial to serial is the one I think you are after.
I've had one running for a couple of months with no problems. Each end comes
with it's own power module to plug into 120vac.
