BS1 - Serial Programming problem

Hello All. I am having problems programming my BS1 with the Windows
software "Basic Stamp Editor Ver 2.1 Beta 1". I built the serial
interface from the scematic on Parallax's website. I am "pretty
sure" that I built it correctly! Here is what is happening -
1. There is a program (from before) in the BS1 that is making some
lights go on and off, so I know it is working.
2. If I run "Identify" in the Basic Stamp Editor it returns no info.
3. If I try to send a program to the BS1, it just says "Scanning" and
then says "No Stamps found".
4. I do notince that when the Basic Stamp Editor is trying to
download the new program, the one on the BS1 stops for a few seconds
and then starts up again.
What do you think is wrong? What speed should my serial port be set
to? Please help
