Battery Level Meter

Hi group!
I'm trying to find a way to add a battery level meter to a project of
mine. Actually just want something simple that I can use to display a
percentage on an LCD. It doesn't have to be super acurate, just
enough to get an idea of how much power is left in a battery pack.
Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!
David
