Subject: [basicstamps] Looking for testers for new Basic Stamp network and debug
tools.
Hello everyone,
I've been working on a new product that allows multiple stamps to be
programmed and debugged on a Windows system and viewed and controlled
through a network or the Internet. I started working on this over a
year ago and in late August lost my hard disk and found that the
Windows backups were useless. In the last couple weeks I have finally
found a hardcopy of the prior work and began completing the product.
Ken Gracey over at Parallax has been very supportive aand we've
discussed Parallax as a vendor of the product. I am within a few days
of the first aplha of the product. The goals of the aplha is to test
connecting multiple stamps to a single computer and then downloading
and debugging programs running on multiple stamps simaltaniously.
Once the aplha is completed the beta will test extending those
features to a LAN or WAN. Internet viewing and control will be the
last feature to be implemented and tested. From start to finish the
aplha and beta program will last between two and three months. This
is a complicated product and will offer the ability to debug
communications between Stamps including high resolution time stamps.
The current version will work on Windows 2000 and XP (any version).
You would need at least 384 Megs of RAM, 1 GHZ processor, 25
megabytes of disk space, and 1-3 RS232 ports or USB serial ports or
any combination thereof. a screen resolution of 800 x 600 or higher
is reccommend or multiple monitors. Anyone interested should contact
me for a non-dosclosure agreement. Those accepted who particpate in
the entire beta and provide feedback will receive a complementary
copy of each product tested at the end of the beta. This includes CD
and manual. Ken Gracey told me about this group and due the large
membership I hope to get between 10 and 20 testers before the end of
January 2004. If you have any questions please drop me an email. I
will respond to each and every question. The beta is open for
enrollment until January 31st 2004 or until 20 beta testers have been
enrolled. There will be 10 additional testers enrolled on a stand-by
status should members of the initial group need to be replaced.
Thank you,
Oliver Bailey
