PC or PDA communicating with a BASIC stamp

I am counting pulses with my BASIC stamp, and I want to continuiously
send the results to my PC via RS-232 port(or later when I get better
at this my PDA). I currently have this process working within my
Debug terminal, but I want to eventually interface directly to a
Visual Basic or Visual C++ program.
How can I:
1) Send the results of my PBASIC program to somewhere other than the
Debug terminal.
2)Recieve and Process the RS-232 signal in a VB or VC++ program (I
think I almost have this licked in VC++.)
-Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you,
Nick

This has 2 small demonstration programs which
show the BS2 side and PC VB side, using the
'MSCOMM' control.
