Ceramic Resonators....
Archiver

Hi,
I'm currently working on a soccer robot using the BS2p.....
In order to control the motors I'm using the Dual H-Bridge.. but I
wanted to be able to vary the speeds so I bought a Pulse-Width-
Modulation coprocessor from AWC... But I just found out I'll need a
50MHz ceramic resonator...
Are these things cheap? Are they commonly availiable (preferably in
Australia)? Does anyone know where I could get them?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
James

Well, yes, but I don't have a specific source in Australia you understand.
They are cheap. A 48 MHz ceramic resonator from Murata is U$ 0.77 in
quantity one from our Digikey.
Hypthetically, it should be even less where you live since you're so much
closer to Murata, but... governments and tariffs and all that. Who knows.
Don't expect much more than an Oz buck, I'd say. Here's the Murata catalog
to get some part numbers:

What you need to locate is a retail parts house with no significant minimum
order quantities. Sorry I can't help with that in your area, James.

Hi James -
It appears that MicroZed has them:
http://www.microzed.com.au/
Click on resonators and crystals. They appear to be $ 4.40 AUD in lots of one.

them unless you lose or destroy on. In any event, we sell them in singles
and packs of 5. Parallax also has 50Mhz resonators so you might check with
your local distributor.

They are cheap enough.
Have a word with Don McKenzie at www.Dontronics.com. If he doesn't stock
them he'll know who does.

If you got them from Al, check with him first. In my dealings with
Al, he offers very complete information and parts. I would suspect
you might have received them, but overlooked them in the box.
It seems that the companies we buy from on the list don't get enough
praise, and the simple fact that they do what they say and often a
little more, we don't complain.
(home-cone-is-it we complain 10 times more than compliment?)
Anyway, with my dealings with Al Williams, I am very satisified.
