latched hall sensors
Archiver

Hello,
In my recent order to www.jameco(part# 174043), I bought a few
latched hall sensors to play with. There is not much on the jameco
site for the product and the datasheet is poor. Can anyone give me
suggestions? They were not expensive but I like to experiment with
new parts.
Thanks,
Curtis

I assume you want to interface the part to your stamp......
Connect pin #1 to +5 volts.
Connet pin #2 to ground.
Connect pin #3 to +5 volts THROUGH 10k ohms.
Connect your monitor pin (Stamp input pin) directly to pin #3.
When a south magnetic pole is detected the output (pin 3) will go low and
stay low until a north magnetic pole is detected, at which time the output
should
go high and stay in this state until again a south pole is detected.
This sensor does not bode well for rpm pick up if you have only one magnet,
because once it senses a pole (north or south) it will stay in that mode until
the opposite pole is detected.
Hope this helps.
Ken

The data sheets are likely there as well. Plus they have a lot of other
info as well.
Basically, when a small magnetic field (magnet) gets close, the sensor
will output a high or low, depending on the type of sensor. Also whether
the sensor is sensitive to the North pole or South pole of the magnet is
important. Some sensors are extremely sensitive and others less so
(bigger or smaller magnet, or a magnet can be farther or closer).
A latched hall effect sensor, usually means that once a magnet is picked
up, it latches and stays set until you turn it off or something.
A typical use would be security, if a door or window is opened, the
magnet on the door or window slides by triggering the sensor.

I will look at the tokenizer code. I am almost
finished with an ide(Obj file loader) for the pocketpc
and a data aquisition software also for ppc. I will
post it soon.
Thanks,
Curtis

Ronny,
I don't understand the question, can you be more specific?
