Need trouble shooting advice.

Hi,
I have an old BS2e application of which I have just finished
assembling 4 new systems. I keep getting the ERROR: Hardware Not
Found message when I try to download the code. I have carefully
checked all voltages, serial cables and wiring (application is on a
ckt board and I checked it too). Voltage in is about 7V, Pin 21 has
5.0V on it. The first line of the code is '{STAMP BS2e}. I am using
V1.2 Dos software. I have tried using 2 different computers. One a
laptop running Win2K and a desktop running Win98.
Anyone have any trouble shooting suggestions?
Is there any particular power up behavior that I can look for with a
scope and a volt meter to verify firmware presence?
Has anyone ever received a Stamp without its firmware?
Thanks,
Chris

editor? It has serial troubleshooting tools built in. The editor first
looks for a loop-back, then a response from the Stamp after it has been
reset by the editor. You must make sure that the serial DTR line is
connected to the ATN pin (4) on the Stamp so that the editor can cause a
remote reset. On Parallax boards the DTR --> ATN connection is coupled
through a cap so prevent holding the Stamp in reset.
