adding a standard diode means erratical servo (need to protect a servo)

Hi,

I tried to add a 1N4007 standard diode
to the red (positive)
( I need protection only ) but servos
move erratically .

I used 6 volts and "work home stamp" and
with stamp 2e later ,with differents
servos but I have the same problem yet.

I need to protect parallax continous servos
from inverting voltage.

Any help will be usefull,thanks: Joe
