Connecting a speaker to BS1

Hi,
I would like to know the best way to connect a 2"
8 ohm speaker to one of the pins on a BS1.
I have tried a 10mf capacitor in series with the speaker and got fair
results. Volume was a bit low.
Is there a better way or a different value cap.
I have seen pull up or pull down resistors being used, which I tried, but
didn't seem to make any difference.
Also, I could use a pizeo speaker, but I would like to get information on
what type and hook-up information.
TIA and happy hollidays.

remember that a higher-impedance speaker will give you better results.
Better than that, run the output through a simple filter and into an
amplifier (see SOUND in the help file or documentation for more
information on this).

I have achieved good results using an 8 ohm speaker in series with a 33 ohm
resistor. Connect two 10uF capacitors in series from your Stamp pin to
ground and then connect one side of your speaker / resistor pair to the
midpoint between the two capacitors and the other side to ground. The
capacitor on the ground side is optional, but it does reduce high frequency
noise.
I hope this helps.

impedance speaker. Not always easy to find, so the amplifier trick may
be best for good volume Even a simple LM386-based amp (like on our
Audio Amp AppMod) will do.

It's been a while since I've connect a standard speaker, but I do
remember that a higher-impedance speaker will give you better results.
Better than that, run the output through a simple filter and into an
amplifier (see SOUND in the help file or documentation for more
information on this).

Thanks for yours and Jon's reply. I will try them out this weekend.
