progamming stamp question

i would to know i can program a stamp : by serial port or by
ieee1289(parallele port)

the basic stamp1 is programmed from the parallel port. All other
basic stamps are programmed through the serial port.

you can program the stamp using the serial port on a pc using the free
software from parallax.
