Hi Ben -
The PCF8583 is a real time clock with RAM and the 24LC32A is a 4K EEPROM memory
chip. Both are included free of charge as accessories to the kit you purchased.
The PCF8583P is a Philips chip, and the datasheet can be obtained here:
http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/pip/PCF8583.html
The 24LC32A is a MicroChip part, and the datasheet can be obtained here:
http://www.microchip.com/1010/pline/memory/memdvice/ic/16to32/devices/24lc32a/
Both chips use the I2C protocol for accessing them.
