5 Volts serial in?

hi!

I have programmed the bs2 to work with an IPAQ for a videogame I am
designing.
A button connected to the stamp lights a row of leds also connected
to the stamp. Now if I use the 9 volts battery connected both to
ground and voltage in everything works fine, as soon as i try to use
the voltages coming out of the serial port (DTR and ground) wich
makes 5 volts the leds won't flash anylonger.

Please advices!!!

sounds like you are exceding the current capabilities of the port. You need
to use these signals to switch a transistor that in turn lights the LEDs
with the LEDs powered by an external supply (usually the same as the stamp
supply)
