i work for Kyocera wireless and it is not possible to interface the nokia
with a bs2 or anycell phone for that matter. all cell phone companies
protect there phones with Perl programming and you will basically have to
hack the phone. your best bet is a GSM module (modem)

Hi Jacques,

This is how i send an SMS message using the Siemens TC35 modem:

SMSSendMessage: SEROUT 0,16780,["AT+CMGS=", 34, "+4412345678", 34, 13]
SERIN 1,16780,[WAIT ("> ")]
SEROUT 0,16780,["Hello World!", 26]
SERIN 1,16780,[WAIT ("+CMGS:")]
RETURN

The above code will send the message "Hello World!" to the mobile phone
whose number is "+4412345678".

I hope this helps. We can also supply you with a Siemens TC35 Terminal.

1. Everytime when i read msgs, it will read all the msgs, it is possible to read
a selected msg, or a msg at a time?

2. when i receive sms, i will receive some funny character before the msg, i
think those funny character is the sender cellphone number, is there any way to
decode it?

3. i did not dare to try to delete, becos i think i would delete away all the
msgs.
rite? is there a way to delete selected msgs?

pls advise

I believe every Nokia model ending in "i" has a built-in modem, but I'm not
sure if you'd be able to do SMS with that... it's mainly for people who want
to use their cell phone as a modem to access the internet from their
laptops.
However, many cell phone providers allow you to send SMS messages to their
customers from their web-site... Actually, with AT&T, sending a message to
XXXXXXXXXX@m... will send an SMS to the number XXXXXXXXXX if that
number is for an AT&T customer...
I believe the SMTP protocol is simple enough that a stamp could handle it...
it just really depends on your provider and who you want to send a message
to.
If we can make our calculators access the internet, surely we can do the
same with a Stamp!

Hi Ben,

In answer to your questions:

1) It is possible to read individual messages using the AT+CMGR=<index>
command; where <index> is the position on the SIM card of the message you
wish to read.

2) You're right, the sender's phone number is stored there. The following
example shows you how to extract it:

MessageAddress var byte(16) ' message phone number
MessageData var byte(80) ' message text data

SMSReadMessage: SEROUT 0,16780,["AT+CMGR=1", 13]
SERIN 1,16780,[WAIT ("+CMGR:"), WAIT (","), SKIP 1, STR
MessageAddress\16\34, WAIT (13, 10), STR MessageData\80\13, WAIT ("OK")]
RETURN

Where MessageAddress is the phone number of the message sender and
MessageData is the body of the received message.

3) Individual messages can be deleted using the AT+CMGD=<index> command;
where <index> is the position on the SIM card of the message you wish to
delete:

SMSDeleteMessage: SEROUT 0,16780,["AT+CMGD=1", 13]
SERIN 1,16780,[WAIT ("OK")]
RETURN

I hope this helps. Feel free to email me at russell@w... if you
have any more questions. I look forward to hearing from you. If you're
looking for another TC35 Terminal, a GSM antenna or a SIM card, take a look
