BS2p40 Connections

Hello,
Right now I'm trying to make a socket hookup for my bs2p40, so I can
use it in a non-breadboard circuit. I'm wondering why there are two
Vss connections on the ic and if they both need to be hooked up or
just the one at pin 39.

Both pins are GND and this is the same pin, this use is to make more easy to
conected the Serial port to programmer the Basicstamp.... If you don't use
the programer port It is the same if you conected into two GND pins any or
one pins...
