Problems with Stamp 2 - v1.0 and Stamp Editor v2.0 beta 2.1

Hi all:

Here is my new computer setup:

Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300
Infrared port disabled
Windows 2000 - current patches installed
No extra software running, Norton Anti-virus Auto protect disabled
Stamp 2 ver 1
Stamp Editor V2.0 Beta 2.1 or V1.33 (Same problem with both)
Stamp Super Carrier

My problem is the editor doesn't identify my STAMP. If I click the
identify button several times, eventually it shows up. But, if I
try to download to the Stamp, I get the "No BASIC Stamps Found" error
all the time.

Using the same Super Carier, Stamp, cable, my old computer running
Windows 98, and a different Editor, V 1.04, everything works fine.

The Windows 98 machine is slow and I want to work with the Stamps on
my new computer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Gary

Change your port FIFO settings to their minimum values. This is an
issue with many laptop serial ports.

Check your COM port setting and make sure you have all RS232 signals
as required. I just went thru **** adding my Stamp to the PC only to
find out that the cable from the mother board (DB9 to header flat
ribbon) was bad. The error message was same as yours - the Stamp sends
its "callign card" via serial port upon initialization and that is
what the editor is complaining about.

Just curious - it would be nice to know what exactly is being send.

Few years back any decent modem had LED's or software to show the
state of the various signals. I finally found my "Mini RS232 tracer"
gizmo ( I think RS sells them ) and the problem was solved.
