Socket sort ofs

I'm building a project that includes some led matrix displays. I don't
want to solder them to the board, because I'd like to be able to remove
them and use them in other projects. Ideally I'd like to find a socket
which can solder and then just plug in the led matrix.
But the matrix display is about 1 1/2 inches square, and the dimensions
aren't even in nice tenths of an inch. So I wonder if I could find some
other way to make it possible to plug and unplug them.
Is there anything that is like an IC socket but with just one row of
pins/holes? If so, I could then use one of these devices for each of
the two rows of pins I have.
Or if someone has a better idea, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks

hold of a standard SIP header (like a DIP socket, just half of one -
available Digikey, Jameco, Mouser, etc.) and splitting each socket off? It's
a lot of effort, but maybe worth it to be able to pop out the LED matrix.
BTW, do you have any idea what spacing the pins *are* at? You might look
around, I know SIP sockets and headers come in some other spacings, (I think
.25, and 2mm, or something like that).

I miswrote. The pins are each spaced .1 inches from each other. But
the two rows are not a multiple of .1" from each other. So if I could
get two separate one row headers that have .1" spacing, then I could
place those two rows the right distance fromn each other

Well, since it's not on .1 spacing, it'll be difficult... How about
getting hold of a standard SIP header (like a DIP socket, just half of
one - available Digikey, Jameco, Mouser, etc.) and splitting each socket
off? It's a lot of effort, but maybe worth it to be able to pop out the

Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to

headers/SIP sockets/whatevers from Jameco/Digikey/wherever. They're pretty
easy to find in the connectors section of each catalog. Digikey part
#A26249-ND will prob. work for you. If not, they have lots of variations on
this theme.
