Hello,

I have very little knowledge about sensors, and i'm looking for a
specific sensor that can detect pedestrians. Any suggestions on what
product i should look into, and i'm also not sure how to interface it
with basic stamp, do i need A/D converter? etc.

I appreciate your suggestions ... Thank you very much!

You need an Eltec pyroelectric sensor from www.acroname.com it has full
interface program for the basic stamp.
    http://www.acroname.com/robotics/parts/R3-PYRO1.html
    Good luck.

Are you talking a simple light beam that breaks for each person ? or
a proximity sensor that dectects warm bodies, like those spot lights
on garage doors and alarms ?

proximity sensors that detect warm bodies like automatic sliding
doors but i need a sample source code, and an interface connection

Just saw an ad for the "Ontel Pedestrian / Vehicle
Driveway Patrol" sensor at Fry's for $15.
Ad says it will detect pedestrians or vehicles
with a range of 400 feet, and that it is infrared.

No idea how one might interface it to a Stamp.
Anyone have specific knowledge of these?

Yes. It senses motion, so blowing plants, pets, vehicles, pedestrians
all set it off. The sensor unit sends a RF signal to a receiver unit
that emits an annoying 2-tone bing bong sound, about 3 times for each
intrusion. I haven't hacked it (yet), but it would appear easy to grab
the receiver's signal, filter it, and convert it to a logic pulse for
    interfacing to a Stamp.
