Thanks, Bill. I have a Futaba on "Strider" (nee Toddler), but it's mounted
nose down as the neck (for rotation). The servo horn is screwed to the
nodding hinge, so it would be an hour's job to check that one. (That's why I
trying to do this the lazy way<g>.) Since the only source for the
high-strength horns is by Internet, I'd better wait for a definitive answer.

Do we have an archive for this list that I can search? (Sorry if that's an
obvious question. I haven't used any Yahoo groups before.)

For what it's worth, I believe GWS is OEM for Parallax servos and I found a
website offering a GWS servo with the following words included in the
description:

The [GWS] S03NF uses Futaba spline control horns. This means you can use
this servo with a variety of third-party wheels designed to be attached to
servos. This includes wheels from Parallax and BasicX.

That supports your result from two directions, Bill. Now if I just had an
answer for the darned mini/BB, which is the designation of the foot servos
whose horns I'm trying to upgrade.

Thanks,

Gary

If you go to the groups page for this group you should be able to look
through the message archives. It was temporarily offline when I checked
it.

If you can wait until tomorrow, Jon W. or Eric from Parallax can
probably tell you.

I'm surprised you don't have a huge bag of servo horns laying around.
Futaba gives you about 8 with each servo.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay....I just ran to the warehouse and checked on this.
The mini servo in the Toddler DOES NOT accept a Futaba servo horn. It's
possible that you could jam the horn into the spline but that isn't
recommended. So to answer your question, the spline on the mini servos
found in the Toddler is Grand Wing Servo (GWS).

I believe they have the Futaba spline. I put a set of BoE-Bot wheels on
a robot that had Futaba S148 servos and they fit just fine.

Thank you, Eric. Once again you guys at Parallax remind me why I like
dealing with small companies. Very much appreciate the effort you took.

Uhh... actually, you could have walked to the warehouse and back, because I
had no time to place the order today -- but maybe I shouldn't mention that.
You couldn't know the sky would fall, and the creek would rise, all on the
same day around here.<g>

Tomorrow I'll get that order right. Thanks,

Gary

Hello,

Servo horns Part Deux

My test below consisted of a black Futaba servo horn (4 arms)...it was
very rigid so it didn't go on easily. If you use a lot of force it may
be inserted on the spline of the mini servo from the Toddler kit but it
may not lock into the grooves properly. GWS and Futaba servos should
have the same spline. So for my second attempt at a resolution, the
answer is that it depends on the specific servo horn that you're using.
