Does anybody know of a UK supplier of electric pistons. I can find
a lot of suppliers in the USA. Hope someone can help.

are you referring to a solenoid ? An electromagnet around a shaft.
when energized, the shaft moves ?

For some odd reason I got the impression that you were looking for a
piston for an engine.

I was thinking those muscle-wire pistons, as sold at www.mondotronics.com...
He coulda meant solenoids, though.

the term I think you are looking for is actuator.

Clippard is one very common manufacturer.

McMaster Carr has many types also, like wide and flat, with a short
stroke, or skinny and long with a long stroke.

We all know what a 'pneumatic piston' is --
it's that round shaped thing that goes up and
down in a cylinder in response to pressure
on it.

'jazzypip' -- if you can find 'electric
piston's' in the USA, what are they
called in the USA? "Relay"? "Solenoid"?

We've had several suggestions as
to WTF you're talking about -- but you
havn't responded. As it is, I don't know
anything that goes up and down in a cylinder
in response to 'electric pressure', whatever
that is.

I was thinking of electric actuators they are long cylinders with a motor on
the end. ( screw drive)

to see pic's, the screen has a show pictures option.


Single acting/spring return means you add pressure and it moves, take
away pressure and the spring brings it back.


double acting means you need pressure to extend it and pressure to
retract it.
