Help need to close a small relay

I would like to use a signal from an RS 232 port or a USB port that would
be generated from a program to use a basic stamp to close a small relay that
would allow a digital camera to trip. The camera is equipped with an
external cable release that is just a switch. this would allow me to fully
automate a process for information the camera is a Olympus e-10 but the SDK
for it and the firmware do not allow full automation, however the process
allows the camera to be preset, by having a way to trip the shutter the
whole process would be automated. This process must be repeatable in a
sequence of 60.

Any and all help negative or positive could save my project .

Thanks
Dave Belgard

you can use a relay driver to drive the relays.. ULN2803.. this device come
with the clamping diode already on the chip.. or if its only on relay maybe
just use a transistor to drive the relay....

    check this site:
    http://www.rentron.com/pc-relay.htm
for both PC or BS controlled relay schematics

You could use a board already set up to receive RS-232 signals and drive
relays such as on this site
http://www.geocities.com/jimforkin2003/ just program the stamp to look for
a specific ascii character and then set the appropriate output high to turn
on the transistor that can switch whatever you want including a relay. The
ascii rs-232 can be generated by any terminal program on a pc.
